Frosting mixes in the box

Hi.  I'm new to the site so this question has probably been answered.  What happened to the frosting mixes that came in boxes?  Particularly the fluffy white that was so good on angel food cake.  I tried the fluffy white in the can.  Not only didn't it taste nearly as good, one can didn't begin to cover an angel food.  What's the deal?

I am also new to this site and can't answer your question, but would like to echo your question.  WHY can't we have the 'old' frosting mix-in-a-box like we used to?!?! They tasted so much better... not so 'artificial flavorish'....... the German Choc. frosting in a box was SO much better than the kind in the little round container!!

I have learned to use the electric mixer on the container frosting before spreading it on the cake... makes it lighter and seems to make it go further.

Hi, thats so strange that I saw that question about the boxed frostings, I use to love the one that made this great fluffy frosting, it was like 7 minute frosting. I think it called for boiling water... I live on the Canadian boarder and have also looked for it in Canada.. No luck... bummer huh ?

Big Smile  Haven't thought of this product for years! My Grandmother even made a candy out of the vanilla frosting. Almost like divinity. It would be a very nice change. Since the cans never seem to have enough frosting to do a batch of cupcakes.

Every once in awhile in odd ball grocery stores I have found it. Krogers was one of them. When I find it I buy quite afew of them.

I too would like to see the box mixes make a come-back.  The German Chocolate frosting was our favorite as we used the recipe on the side of the box using whipping creme - mmmmmmm good!!!  I do hope there is enough demand to see them back on the shelf.  We don't care for the canned frosting either and end up using powdered sugar for a homemade frosting flavor.

I just tried to do a product serach on it- with out any luck- but you can always contact customer service and ask if it's in your area. Good luck on your search! Sincerely, CC

I'm new also, and I just joined looking for info on the fluffy white frosting.  It's always been a big favorite with my family especially on angel food cake.  It's been out of the stores forever.  About 10 years ago I ordered a case of it online and am down to my last box.  Why doesn't this site carry it for order any longer?  There is nothing worth putting on angel food cake out there, it's all so heavy and rich.  Both the fluffy white and angel food cake are fat free, the can stuff isn't.  I wish they'd bring boxed frostings back, if not in the stores, at least orderable online.

Special4K5: Check the link above to see if it's anywhere in your area. If not, talk to your supermarket manager about ordering some. If not- I've heard others order the frosting off of amazon.com, etc.

Thank you so much.  It was available at Amazon.com and I am ordering it as we speak.  I will still talk to supermarket, but I haven't seen it on shelves in so many years.

I would also like to see the frostings in the box come back.  I don't like the ones in the can either...Yuck!!!  I have resorted to using powdered sugar to make my own frosting.  Glad to know there are others out there that feel the same way.  Let's hope Betty Crocker will be the one to bring them back.
